Called “flowering apples” to distinguish them from “fruit” apples. These are famous for
their spectacular spring blossom, followed by clusters of colourful fruits which last all
through autumn, sometimes even throughout the winter. Their deciduous leaves are
also often colourful. Needs deep, fresh, permeable, fertile soils. Can be grown as a
bush (to be planted singly on lawns, used in groups or with other shrubs, especially if
they bear fruit at the same time). Can also be grown into trees (to be planted singly
on lawns, in groups, in parks or avenues).
